La educación prenatal o psicoprofilaxis obstétrica es la preparación integral, teórica, física y psicoafectiva que se brinda a mujeres durante la gestación, parto y postparto para alcanzar una jornada obstétrica en las mejores condiciones, con el objetivo de disminuir complicaciones, dar una mejor posibilidad de recuperación contribuyendo a la reducción de la morbilidad y mortalidad materna perinatal. Este servicio, es uno de los componentes de la estrategia establecimiento de Salud Amigos de la Madre y el Niño (ESAMyN) que implemento el Ministerio de Salud Pública.
