El Hospital General Puyo mediante una estrategia público privada con la empresa farmacéutica Roche y el Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (IESS) concluyeron con la campaña de detección oportuna de Virus Papiloma Humano, el mismo que se asocia al cáncer cervico uternio para casos de mujeres desde los 25 años de edad en adelante y que son afiliadas al IESS.

La Blefaritis, consiste en la inflamación de los párpados. Es una causa frecuente de su enrojecimiento y dolor, así como lagañas en las pestañas. Pero existen ciertos tipos, una de ellas la blefaritis anterior que afecta a la parte exterior del párpado, donde se ubican las pestañas, tenemos la blefaritis posterior que se produce a causa de una disfunción de las glándulas meibomianas. Las estadísticas del año 2019 de está unidad hospitaliaria, indica que fueron atendidos alrededor de 63 pacientes con esta enfermedad.
